Threads Platform Guide

Welcome to the Threads publishing guide! This document will help you understand how to create and optimize your posts for Threads using our platform.

What is Threads?​

Threads is Meta's text-based social platform that lets you share thoughts, images, videos, and connect with your audience through threaded conversations. It's designed for authentic engagement and community building.

Supported Post Types​

Our platform supports the following post types on Threads:

1. Text Posts​

Share your thoughts, ideas, and updates through pure text. Text posts are perfect for:

  • Announcements and updates
  • Questions for your audience
  • Short thoughts and reflections
  • Polls and opinions

Tips for Text Posts:

  • Keep your message clear and engaging
  • Use line breaks to make your text easy to read
  • Add a relevant topic tag to increase visibility

2. Image Posts​

Share single images to accompany your text. Image posts work great for:

  • Visual announcements
  • Product showcases
  • Behind-the-scenes content
  • Infographics and quotes

Image Guidelines:

  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF
  • Recommended resolution: 1080 x 1080 pixels (square) or 1080 x 1920 pixels (portrait)
  • Maximum file size: 10MB per image

3. Video Posts​

Upload videos to share richer content with your audience. Video posts are ideal for:

  • Tutorials and how-to content
  • Product demonstrations
  • Behind-the-scenes footage
  • Personal messages

Video Specifications:

  • Maximum duration: 5 minutes
  • Supported formats: MP4, MOV
  • Recommended aspect ratio: 9:16 (vertical) or 1:1 (square)
  • Maximum file size: 512MB

4. Carousels​

Share multiple images or videos in a single post with a swipeable carousel format. Carousels are perfect for:

  • Multi-image stories
  • Step-by-step guides
  • Product collections
  • Before-and-after comparisons

Carousel Guidelines:

  • Maximum 10 items per carousel
  • Mix images and videos in the same carousel
  • Arrange your media in the order you want it to appear

5. Threads Posts​

Create multi-post threads to share longer-form content. Threads allow you to:

  • Tell a complete story across multiple posts
  • Break down complex topics
  • Share detailed tutorials or guides
  • Build anticipation with serialized content

Thread Tips:

  • Plan your thread structure in advance
  • Number your posts (1/5, 2/5, etc.) for easy following
  • Make your first post attention-grabbing to hook readers

6. Analytics​

Track the performance of your Threads posts with detailed analytics. Our platform provides:

  • Impressions - Number of times your post was displayed
  • Engagement - Total likes, replies, reposts, and quotes
  • Followers - New followers gained from your posts
  • Reach - Unique accounts that saw your content

Platform Settings​

When creating a Threads post on our platform, you can configure the following settings:

Title​

Set a custom title for your Threads post. This helps with organization and makes your post easier to identify in your content calendar.

  • Leave empty to use your post content as the default title
  • Custom titles are useful when scheduling multiple posts

Media Layout​

Control how your media files are distributed across multiple posts. This is especially useful when you have more than 10 media items.

How to use:

  • Enter a comma-separated list of numbers
  • Each number represents how many media items to include in each post
  • The total must equal the number of media files you upload

Examples:

Important Notes:

  • Each value must be between 0 and 10
  • If you have more than 10 media items, you must specify a layout
  • The system will automatically create multiple posts as needed

Topic Tag​

Add a topic tag to help categorize your post and increase its reach. Topic tags make your content discoverable to users interested in that topic.

Guidelines:

  • Length: 1-50 characters
  • Cannot contain periods (.) or ampersands (&)
  • Only one tag per post
  • Use relevant tags that describe your content

Examples:

  • photography - For photo-related content
  • travel - For travel stories and tips
  • smallbusiness - For business updates

Best Practices​

Content Tips​

  1. Write compelling openings - Your first few words determine if people will keep reading
  2. Use visuals - Posts with images and videos get more engagement
  3. Be authentic - Threads users value genuine, conversational content
  4. Engage with your audience - Reply to comments to build community

Timing​

  • Post when your audience is most active
  • Consider time zones if your audience is global
  • Use our scheduling feature to plan your posts in advance

Hashtags vs Topic Tags​

  • Topic Tags: Built-in categorization system (use for discoverability)
  • Hashtags: Additional keyword tagging in your post content

Use both for maximum visibility!

Troubleshooting​

Common Issues​

Media won't upload:

  • Check file format and size limits
  • Ensure stable internet connection
  • Try compressing large files

Topic tag rejected:

  • Remove any periods or ampersands
  • Keep it under 50 characters
  • Use only letters, numbers, and underscores

Media layout errors:

  • Verify total equals number of media files
  • Each value must be 0-10
  • Use only commas and numbers (no spaces)
