YouTube Posting Guide

Welcome to our YouTube posting guide! This document will help you understand how to configure your YouTube posts using our platform.


Supported Post Types

YouTube supports the following post types on our platform:

1. YouTube Video

Standard YouTube videos are the most common type of content on the platform. You can upload videos and configure various metadata settings.

  • Maximum Duration: Up to 12 hours
  • Supported Formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WebM, MKV
  • Maximum File Size: Up to 256GB (or 128GB with longer upload time limit)
  • Recommended Resolution: 1080p (1920x1080) or higher
  • Recommended Codec: H.264

2. YouTube Shorts

YouTube Shorts are short-form vertical videos that are 60 seconds or less, designed for mobile viewing.

  • Maximum Duration: 60 seconds
  • Aspect Ratio: 9:16 (vertical)
  • Resolution: 1080x1920 pixels recommended
  • File Format: MP4

Important: YouTube Shorts have limitations compared to standard videos:

  • Custom thumbnails are NOT available for Shorts - YouTube automatically generates thumbnails
  • Some metadata settings may differ from standard videos

3. Thumbnails & Metadata

You can customize how your video appears on YouTube with various metadata options.

Custom Thumbnails

  • Supported Formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP
  • Maximum File Size: 2MB
  • Recommended Resolution: 1280x720 pixels (16:9 aspect ratio)

Note: Custom thumbnails are NOT available for YouTube Shorts. YouTube will automatically generate a thumbnail from your video.

Video Metadata

When creating a YouTube post on our platform, you can configure the following settings:

Language Settings

Configure the language settings for your video metadata:

These settings help YouTube provide correct translations and captions for your content.


Region Restrictions

Control where your video can be viewed:

  • Enter country codes as comma-separated values (e.g., US,CA,MX)
  • Use ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes
  • You cannot use both Allowed and Blocked countries at the same time
  • Leave empty to make your video available worldwide

License & Embedding

Control how others can use your video:

YouTube requires content creators to make certain disclosures:

Important: Failure to properly disclose required information may result in video removal or channel penalties.


Recording Details

Specify when the video was originally recorded:

  • Recording Date: Date and time of original recording
  • Format: Automatically stored in ISO 8601 format

Best Practices

1. Optimize Your Video Metadata

  • Use clear, descriptive titles with relevant keywords
  • Write detailed descriptions including timestamps and links
  • Add relevant tags for better discovery
  • Choose the correct category

2. Choose the Right Privacy Level

  • Most content should be set to "Public" for maximum reach
  • Use "Unlisted" for videos you want to share via link only
  • Use "Private" for personal content

3. Create Compelling Thumbnails

  • Use 1280x720 resolution images
  • Include text overlay with key message
  • Use bright, contrasting colors
  • Show faces when possible

Note: Custom thumbnails are NOT available for YouTube Shorts.

4. Set Proper Language Settings

  • Match metadata language to actual content
  • Select correct audio language for captions
  • Always disclose paid product placements
  • Mark content as "Made for Kids" if applicable
  • Declare AI-generated content for transparency

Troubleshooting

Video Upload Issues

  • File too large: Compress your video or use a different format
  • Unsupported format: Convert to MP4 or MOV
  • Upload failed: Check your YouTube account connection and try again

Settings Not Applying

  • Some settings only apply to standard YouTube videos, not Shorts
  • Custom thumbnails are NOT supported for YouTube Shorts

Analytics Not Showing

  • Analytics data may take 24-48 hours to appear after posting
  • Make sure your YouTube account is connected properly
  • Check that "Public Stats Viewable" is enabled

Region Restrictions Issues

  • Cannot use both Allowed and Blocked countries simultaneously
  • Check that country codes are in correct ISO format (e.g., US, CA)
